There was the figure of an aunt—or so she seemed—shouting such abuse, and Cinderella, enduring the verbal onslaught.
My guess is the one hurling the insults and shouts is the stepmother.

And the one enduring that voice is the heroine of this book’s story, Cinderella.
But, having understood that, a wave of anxiety washed over me about what to do next. If this fact were really true, it would mean I’m trapped inside a book.

I have to find a way to get back to the real world. First, I should follow her, since she’s already gone back inside the house. I might figure something out.
Though I hesitated at the still-unceasing cries of anger, I steeled my resolve and moved toward the mansion’s building.
